Learn local language and in the first week, take a tour of main attractions in whichever country you go then settle for work. The main objective of this program is to give an overview of the local culture where volunteers are going to work so that they will get culture-shock. At the same time, teach them the local language for basic communication. The itinerary given is from the field office in Thailand, which is basically same for other countries as well:

PROGRAM ITINERARY:

Day 0: Arrival

Arrival and pick up from the airport

Transfer to Ayuthaya (1.5 hrs drive from the airport/Bangkok) and stay for 3 nights (you will need to share a room with another volunteer possibly the one who will work with you or arrive together)

Day 1: Orientation & Ayuthaya tour

09:00 : Breakfast at the accommodation

09:30 : Orientation and language class

11:30 : Start Ayuthaya temple tour

12.30 : Lunch

14:00 : Ayuthaya tour (temples & elephants)

18:00 : Dinner at a local food shop

19.00 : Return to the same accommodation

Day 2: Bangkok tour

08:30 : Breakfast at the accommodation

09:00 : Language and culture

10:00 : Bangkok tour (temples and market)

12.30 : Lunch

14:00 : Start Bangkok tour

18:00 : Dinner at a local food shop

19.00 : Return to the same accommodation

Day 3: Transfer to Home-stay (Bang Sai)

09:00 : Breakfast at the accommodation

09:30 : Language and culture

11:30 : Leave for home stay

12.30 : Lunch

14:00 : Home stay family introduction

Day 4-6: Home-stay (Bang Sai)

Teach English in a primary school, play with the children and live with family (get involved in various family activities including cooking/eating, biking, hiking and boating depending upon the situation).

Day 7 : Transfer to project/accommodation

Note: Our staff will come and pick-up at 11 AM drive to the project. You will be transferred to your accommodation then shown food shop/restaurant, laundry, banks and internet café, bus/train stations, and how to go to work during or after transfer.
